Meerkats, The Sojourners

Two of eastern Iowa's better rock bands--each having completed work on their second full-length CD--traipse into the Q Bar for a night of rockin' good times. Cedar Rapids' Meerkats, whose surf/space tinged Enemy Planet hit the stores this past week, will be joined by Brighton's The Sojourners, a two guys'n'two gals quartet in the final mixdown stage of the follow-up to 1995's excellent pretty as a picture. Both groups feature taut playing and innovative original material based generally in alternative but drawing from a myriad of sources. A great pairing.
